IFBLS Lab Tours 2021
On the last day of the IFBLS 2021 conference a number of exiting Lab Tours will be organised.
Saturday 28 August 13:00 - 15:30 approx.
Access to the Lab Tours is not included in the regular conference fee and must registered for separately. The registration will open later. Please see the registration page for price and registration.
Please note that there are a limited number of seats for each Lab Tour.
The Lab Tours will be announced continuously as the planning is completed.

Bus transportation from Bella Center Copenhagen, and return is. included in the Lab Tour registration fee.
Lab Tour at the Kennedy Center
Participants will have the opportunity to tour part of the Kennedy Center. This includes Department for Clinical Genetics and Unit for Genomic Medicine. Both departments use “state of the art” molecular genetic methods and equipment both for routine analysis and research. Members from the Kennedy Center will lead the tour and highlight where sample handling, sample processing and sample answering occur. The tour starts with a general talk on the work in the Kennedy Center. There will be a small reception and networking opportunities.
About the Kennedy Center
Kennedy Center was founded in 1967 under the name The John F. Kennedy Institute, as a public institution for research and counselling in causes of mental retardation. The initial fundings were collected by the Danish people, in memorial of the assassinated U.S. president John F. Kennedy.

Kennedy Center includes the following units:
Medical Genetics Laboratory - is an ISO 15189 accredited diagnostic laboratory, with expertise in a broad spectrum of genetic disorders.
Center for Applied Human Molecular Genetics - is the research department, with the main focus on neurodevelopmental disorders and visual impairment.
Center for PKU – is the department for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of PKU
Center for Rett syndrome – is the department for diagnosis, management, and research in Rett syndrome
Center for Fragile X – is the department for diagnosis and management of Fragile X syndrome
Genetic Counseling Clinic – is the department for clinical genetic evaluation and counseling of patients and families.
